Waldorf Salad
A Waldorf salad has lots of good, healthy ingredients and leaves your regular, boring salad much to be desired.
It usually has a mayonnaise-based dressing, with celery, apples, nuts and grapes. This salad originated from New York City at the Waldorf Hotel in the 1890's.
Packed with crunch in every bite, you can serve this salad at your tea party along with some tea breads or scones.

Waldorf Recipe
- 2-3 tart apples - peeled, cored and chopped
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 cup seedless grapes
- 2 stalks celery, chopped
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise (or yogurt)
- 3 tablespoons apple juice
- 1/4 teaspoon celery seed
- 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts
- Lettuce (watercress or garden mixture)
1/2 cup raisins or other dried fruit
In medium bowl, combine apples and lemon juice, and then add the grapes and celery.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, apple juice and celery seeds. Spoon over the apple mixture and gently toss together.
Serve over a bed of lettuce (or on it's own) and sprinkle with the walnuts over the top.
